I used to struggle constantly with what to have for dinner. I learned about freezer cooking (also called Once a Month Cooking or OAMC, Investment Cooking, Make-Ahead Cooking) and decided I wanted to learn all about it. After researching I tried the Freezer Cooking Manual from 30 Day Gourmet and quickly became a fan of freezer cooking! I started 30 day cooking alone, then joined friends who were also using this method, and finally started to teach new people all about freezer cooking.

Since I started Homemaking911 in July 2007 I have helped 100s of women to get started with freezer cooking.  Many women wanted to have a manual to help them when they were on their own at home. Now, many years later I have several freezer cook books I use and love.

Here are some photos of my freezer cooking day with my friend Kathy Enix. Two of my four children were also helping me that day, Christina (age 17, seen stirring the Mexi-Chicken) and Anne Mary (age 7, washing potatoes). The others were off playing together.

Enjoy the pictures!

    Malia and family,
I absolutely love your new website. Congratulations. Malia, you have been an inspiration to me. Thanks so much again for helping me with freezer cooking. Also, for speaking at my homeschool group last October about freezer cooking. I’ll visit your website many times in the future, I’m sure. God bless.
    Love in Christ,

I thoroughly enjoyed your freezer cooking class held in Fern Creek in December. I wanted to try Mexi-chicken and did not copy the directions on your “old” web page. I can’t seem to find it here. Is it still here?

    Malia,
Thank you so much for sharing Freezer Cooking with us. My sister and I had a great time. All four recipes turned out great. My sister made Mexi-chicken again with some leftover chicken, and added black beans and hominy instead of barley. It was good that way too. Next time I make chicken pot pies, I’m going to saute the onions before putting them in so that they’re not quite so intense.
I love your website! So many cool things and not enough time to explore them all!
    Thanks,
    Rebecca…

    Hi Malia:
It was so nice to chat with you for a short while at the recent CEC open house. I am Tori’s mom. She and I are both vegetarian (not vegan) and it would be nice to know if you have a contact that does the freezer meals vegetarian style. I think it would be helpful for your overall homeschool audience as well as many homeschoolers choose to be meatless. Thanks so much for your consideration of this. I am in awe of you and what you can accomplish!
    Kim 🙂

    Kim:
It was great to see you there as well. Of course I remember you. You were so sweet after David was born. Do you remember bringing me a meal when he was up all the time and was losing weight and having trouble nursing? I still remember your kindness then, as well as your encouraging phone call. What a blessing!

Anyway, yes, there is a resource for Vegetarians who freezer cook. There is an e-book on the 30 Day Gourmet website that you can buy and download.

Also, there is a terrific site for Vegetarian Pressure Cooking. Her website is: http://www.theveggiequeen.com/.

I know that is not about freezer cooking, but still about preparing vegetarian meals quickly and easily. I just got my copy of her video in the mail and I cannot wait to watch it! Our DVD player is broken and we have a new one coming in the mail, so I am watching for the mail to get it here….mainly so that I can see this video! I will write up a review about it as soon as I get to view it. Looking at her website, I think it will be terrific.

Thanks for the note. If you come across any other vegetarian websites or resources, let me know. My folks love to learn about what is available for healthy and economical eating.
    Love,
    Malia
