Find Rest, O My Soul

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.  Psalm 62

When we face trials of many kinds our hope can come from so many places:  From the people of this world, from the banker, from the doctor.

Let us stop and pause when our trials, big and small come.  Let us go back to the Psalms and say with David, “One thing God has spoken,  two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving.” At times we face trials because as a result of a sin, sometimes it is because we are doing mighty things for the kingdom, sometimes it is to be a witness of God’s great deliverance, but whenever we do face those trials, it is our chance to start anew.  We do not have to continue in the sin, we do not have to back down or cower from our mighty service.  We can stand on the rock and say:

He alone is my rock and my salvation;  he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.

Let it be so today.
