A Steadfast Spirit

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew an steadfast spirit within me.  Psalm 51:10

How many times have I prayed this prayer, yet fallen right back into those things that cause me to have an impure heart and wavering spirit?  The only way I know how to keep a steadfast spirit, a spirit firm in purpose, resolution, faith, and attachment to my Lord and Savior is to spend daily, consistent time in God’s Holy Word.  Praise Him that it is so easy to find a Bible in America today.  It has not been distant past  when only the very privileged even laid eyes on God’s word.  It is literally at our fingertips daily.  Has its ease of attaining made it just what Satan wanted:  Just another book on the shelf I will get to when I have “free time?”  Let it not be so for us! This weekend, my friend Teri pointed out that it is indeed, God’s series of love letters to us.  Cling to it, memorize it.  Carry it around with you.  Touch it, feel it, tatter it.  Highlight your favorite parts.  Cry over it, laugh over it.  But for heaven’s sake, do not just leave it sitting on the shelf another day.
